Maybe you can just create a post out of it. It’s seems like a good piece of common sense marketing. (score!)
I recently posted some waaah-mbulance worthy dribble, and got some really encouraging comments. One of them was such a good piece of writing; it merited it’s own post.
Most of you know Pete Wailes from his comments on many of the SEO / SEM blogs. He’s the Common Sense Marketer. His blog rocks, and his comment on my last post is not only a testament to his writing, but it also shows that he is a damn good dude. Here’s the comment I’m talking about:
Everyone has a unique *thing* that makes them who they are, especially in the online marketing/business/sem industry. For me, it’s probably giving people a kick in the backside, so they get started.
Now, if (after the book goes live) someone released a similar book, with the same theme, would I be pissed? Yes. Of course. However, would that stop the creative merit of what I’d written being mine? No. Why? Because it was still me that did it.
Da Vinci was once asked by one of his pupils, why he went into such incredible detail on pieces of work where no-one would notice the extraordinary detail in the things he was painting. He replied “I’ll know they’re there”
The thing is to look at what she’s done with pride. Because of what you did, she’s been a success. Surely that, more than anything else, shows that what you did was pure brilliance. And you’ll still get credit for future things in a similar vein, because you’re (I believe) known as the guy who did linkbait fun-style first.
Keep going with these things. And I’ll leave you with this passing thought…
Will Smith once was talking to Nelson Mandela about his time in captivity, and whether he should make more “serious” films, about things like that. To be taken more seriously as an actor. Nelson replied saying that what had kept him going though those times were comedies.
We need serious people. We need comedians too. People to make us laugh, and smile. Keep making us laugh Chris.
Hat’s off to you Pete. That comment was genuinely warm, well thought out, well written, inspirational, and just darn nice. You rock man!

*Is now slightly embarrassed* Thanks so much. And seriously, keep with it. You’re on my daily reads list (and have been ever since DrinkBait launched).
When I’m in the States next, I’ll buy you a beer.
